Who could imagine that a simple piece of chicken wire could be transformed into such wonderful pieces of sculpture and artwork! But with Lindsay Waring, a local sculptor from Buckinghamshire, anything is possible!
Lindsay enjoys experimenting with mixed media, but wire is her speciality. With this medium she is able to capture movement in her animal work whilst encapsulating the subject’s character, making her work look incredibly real with fantastic detail.
So based in the tea room at Canons Ashby, Lindsey began the day showing participants the materials and tools that they would be using, plus various techniques to manipulate their wire into lots of fabulous shapes and forms!
For some extra inspiration, participants were treated to a display of Lindsey’s work which included some fabulous pieces including this amazing Owl…
Then armed with an assortment of wire, it was time for everyone to get stuck in and have a go at creating thier own masterpiece, with Lindsey at hand to give advice and assistance throughout the day.
By the end of the day, the tea room was full of a fantastic array of animals and birds …some tremendous creations and everyone was thrilled by the results of all their hard work!
If you would like to try your hand at creating a piece of sculpture from wire, Lindsey will be back at Bay Tree Cottage running another Wire Sculpture Workshop on Tuesday 2 October
