Hedgerow Herbalist

More Details

Our hedgerows are known to be a vital resource for wildlife, but they also provide a wealth of health-giving herbs. Hawthorn, Elder, nettles, plantain, shepherd’s purse and dandelion are just a few examples of common herbs that can be used to restore and maintain health and vitality.

Join us for the morning and discover how to identify the many healing herbs that grow in our hedgerows, and learn how they can be used to promote your wellbeing or treat specific health issues.

The workshop will be run by Sara Southgate, a naturopath and herbalist with over a decade’s experience of working with natural remedies. She passionate about natural health and growing organic herbs and vegetables and runs a busy practice in Leamington Spa, where she lives with her husband, two young children and their dog.

The morning will start with a taster session where Sara will show you how to make a herbal infusion. Then, with all the theory and information delivered, we will don our wellies and take you on a hedgerow walk around the Hedgerows at Bay Tree Cottage so we can identify the herbs in situ and gather a harvest to take home!

Returning to the classroom, Sara will show you how to make your own herbal tincture to treat respiratory conditions like colds or flu, or reduce stress, cleanse the body or for use as a general tonic. You will finish the workshop by using the herbs that you have gathered to make your own tincture to take home with you.
