Crafting the perfect Hen Party

If you’ve been given the task of organising a hen party that is altogether a more relaxing and refined affair than L plates and feather boas, then an event where you learn a new skill, enjoy wonderful refreshments and take home a handmade creation, rather than a shocking hangover, could be perfect.

We recently hosted two wonderful hen parties here at Bay Tree Cottage where the ladies spent quality time with their friends, took part in a creative activity and enjoyed an array of delicious homemade food with not a novelty straw in sight!

Our first group enjoyed a floristry workshop in the afternoon and then went on to enjoy each other’s company throughout the evening as they stayed in our Grade II Listed accommodation. The following morning saw them take part in a chocolate making workshop, with some fantastic results! Our other hens opted for an afternoon of corn dolly making, an ancient craft taught by our local country craftsman Bert Manton.

The Bay Tree Cottage kitchen was tasked with ensuring our weekend guests were well fed and watered during their stay and did not disappoint with their culinary creations.  Lunch consisted of a delicious risotto cake with roasted vegetables, stuffed bread with apple, walnut and cheese and a selection of vibrant salads, rounded off by sublime semi-freddo cheesecake and rhubarb and custard crumble tart.

During their afternoon with us our corn dolly ladies enjoyed a glass (or two!) of prosecco and a selection of scrumptious cakes including chocolate and beetroot, blueberry and lime drizzle, raspberry bakewell and white chocolate swiss roll with summer berries.

If that has got your tastebuds tingling, you can find many of the recipes on our website  www.btcworkshops.co.uk
