Discover the wild food in South Northamptonshire

Anyone who is curious about the wild food that grows around them will be interested to hear that foraging expert Geoff Dann will be at Bay Tree Cottage on Sunday 13 May for a day of spring foraging where they can learn all about the edible (and poisonous!) spring shoots and flowers that are in the local area.foraging

These delicious greens can be used in salads, soups, bread and many other dishes as well as in teas and alcoholic drinks, and Geoff will teach attendees how to identify and use plants including wood sorrell, wild garlic, hogweed shoots, common nettles, chickweed, hairy bittercress, cleavers, new hawthorn and beech leaves.

After an introductory talk by Geoff, he will lead a foraging walk across local farmland and through woodland, stopping for ‘elevenses’ and later returning to Bay Tree Cottage for a late lunch, which will hopefully include some of the foraging finds. With a final chance to ask Geoff any unanswered questions, attendees will leave fully equipped and confident to continue their foraging when they get home.
