It’s time to have some more fun in the kitchen with another tasty selection of cookery workshops at Bay Tree Cottage, designed to educate and inspire children of all ages and abilities!

With the workshops divided into 2 age categories, this half-term we’re going to be creating ‘Packed Lunches & Picnics’ with Primary School Children (4-12 yrs) followed by a picnic in the garden. And the Teenagers (12-16yrs) can join us in the kitchen to master some wonderful authentic Italian and Indian Cuisine.

Sound good? Here are the details:

Italian Pizzas for TeenagersThursday 29 May
A favorite meal for many Teenagers, and now they can learn how to make them from scratch with our Italian cookery tutor, Carmela Serno Hayes! During this fun hands-on cookery workshop they will learn how to make authentic pizza dough and a selection of different toppings to transform their basic pizza into a real show stopper!
Once they have mastered the basics, Carmela will show them how to make a regional variation called a ‘Calzone’ and a sweet pizza, using nutella and hazelnuts, which is a traditional finale to an Italian meal. And when all this cooking is complete, the hard working chefs will be rewarded with a lunch of wonderful pizza , of course!

Our tutor Rashmita will start the day introducing everyone to the range of both dried and fresh ingredients that are frequently used in Indian cuisine. Then together you will prepare an Indian Banquet with a starter of Potato Bhajies & Mint Yoghurt Chutney, followed by  Chana Shak with Nann Bread and Rice, and for dessert they will make a Coconut Barif, all accompanied by a Mango Lassi to drink!
When all the cooking is done there will be smiles all round as we will finish the workshop with a delicious banquet of food that has been prepared throughout the day.
