Shape up your bread making skills!

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned bread maker, our expert bakers are here to offer their experience and guidance in an informal and friendly environment.bread making

From mastering a rustic white loaf to creating a versatile olive bread, a classic ciabatta, braided stuff loaves, tangy sourdough or light crusty gluten free bread, whatever your taste, we have a workshop to suit you! Gift vouchers are also available if you would like to treat a friend or loved one.

All our bread making courses cost £75pp for a full day, which includes all equipment and ingredients plus a delicious homemade lunch. You’ll just need to bring a large container to take home all your freshly-baked loaves! The workshops are limited to 8 people and our 2018 Spring/Summer diary is detailed below:

Artisan Bread Making – Thursday 8 February and Wednesday 9 May
This workshop will explore and demystify every stage and element of creating a range of hand-crafted artisan breads, including a versatile white tin loaf, a wholemeal granary bread, a herby soda bread and traditional scones.

Gluten Free Bread & Pastry – Friday 9 March and Friday 6 July
Adriana Rabinovich, an expert in gluten free cookery and author of The Gluten Free Cookbook for Kids, is running this workshop where you will learn how to make light, crusty, tasty, bread and delicate pastry. You will discover the range of gluten free flours available and master simple techniques that can be used for successful baking.

Speciality Bread – Wednesday 14 March and Saturday 2 June
This busy hands-on day of baking will include a braided stuffed loaf, a contemporary-looking Fougasse, a sweet or savoury flavoured bread, plus a few other specialities from the Bay Tree Cottage Kitchen!

Festive Easter Bread Baking – Thursday 22 March
Learn how to make a wonderful array of traditional Easter breads baked in different countries around the world including Hot Cross Buns, a Polish Babka, a Greek ‘Tsoureki’ Easter Bread plus a Russian Kulich.

Mediterranean Breads –Tuesday 24 April and Thursday 12 July
Using a range of ingredients, baking methods and finishing techniques, you’ll learn how to create a selection of delicious Mediterranean breads including cornbread with parmesan & sun-dried tomatoes, Turkish flatbread, Italian farinata and a sage, pancetta and potato bread.

Exploring Sourdough – Saturday 19 May
Paul Raddan from Rugby Real Bread will show you all the techniques you need to produce your own sourdough loaves, including a wheat sourdough and a traditional pumpernickel-style, dark rye bread. You’ll also go home with a pot of mature sourdough starter so you’re ready to carry on baking.
