Neil studied food technology specialising in dairying at Cheshire college of Agriculture, Reaseheath. After leaving he went on to become head cheese maker on a farm making traditional farmhouse Cheshire cheese using the milk from their 600 cows.
Many awards were won for the cheeses at leading cheese shows. After many years in different aspects of dairying he now gives lectures and demonstrations to various groups including courses at farm museums and country craft training centres.
